so the bus i just left had a really icky urine-like smell to it. and that dang bus driver. seriously, seatbelts would save a lot of people from massive neck and back pain from when they are thrown about the bus. dude.
just got back from seeing the incredibles. nice movie. i know, i know. do you do anything besides watching movies, abby? 'cause it doesn't seem like you do. well, i'm trying to avoid reality right now (meaning the last 2 weeks of term when everything gets handed in) so, yes. i watch a lot of movies. i also went to the museum of london today. this can be related to class though because i saw many old printing presses. very educational.
that's about it. short and sweet. picking up those pictures tomorrow. also, i have got to find those darn envelopes i was looking for today. and go see a chick about another job prospect and and AND work some more on those damn assessments. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
g'night lovely people
oh, ps. they are lighting up the giant christmas tree in trafalgar tomorrow night. will be up until the end of january. and did i mention that i finished knitting my scarf?? looks groovy.

p.s.
i'm NOT afraid to say that i'm a mark walberg fan.
apparently i am because i slipped up the 1st time i wrote it. i felt mark deserved this correction.
also, in case my friend carisa reads this at any point in time, i'm supposed to tell all you americans that she is a great person. yup, so there ya go carisa. by the way, she didn't like huckabees, so maybe it isn't for everyone, but she didn't like lost in translation either, so.....

i heart thanksgiving
GO SEE I HEART HUCKABEES!! this is a great film and i know i will go see it again and again. just like i did when forrest gump came out. i was at that theater all the dang time. i'm a huge mark walberg fan now and i'm afraid to say it. it's so funny and makes you think that way where you think and then think about thinking and then think about that and it trips you all up.
to preface the thanksgiving bit below, i WILL have pictures. i'm going to get them developed tmrw and then scan in a few. it will finally make this blog a little more cheery like. right now it's all words and shit.
hope you all had a great thanksgiving. started off the morning with a sip or two of guinness. you see, we were making a beer can turkey and had to experiment with getting the widget out of the can. widgets are plastic and didn't want to burn plastic inside of a turkey. ended up cutting the top of the can apart, you know, widgets are quite large.
my favorite bit of thanksgiving was when meg and i forced everyone to say what they were thankful for before they were allowed to eat :) it was so so wonderful to look around the room at everyone...americans, brits, danes, and swedes. so many were celebrating their 1st tday with us!! 12 of us total. we made up a thanksgiving pimp quiz with random questions about friends, the oc, and people at the dinner, then a little trivial pursuit. lots of dancing, of course, it was mainly meg and i that were providing that. oh and for a little light background music, well, nothing says thanksgiving better than a little red corvette by prince.
meanwhile at the lcc library, a group of hooligans jumped the turnstyles into our school, headed up to the library and stabbed a tutor a few times. no big deal, a 13yr girl got raped at the heygate estate (also in elephant and castle) last week. yeah, so i'm feeling real safe. everyone always needs to be careful, but really anything can happen at anytime and if it's going to happen, it's going to happen. v. upsetting and sad. i'm pretty sure the tutor is okay, but i hope they start working a little harder at the whole security issue with our school.
well, don't want to leave this post on a sad note or anything so,...oh wait, i do have another piece of good news. so, remember that arse, veejay, i mentioned earlier? well, the other tutors are well aware of him not teaching us anything and how much we all despise him. they are "looking into it" Hurrah!!
g'night then....enjoy the full moooon,

universal poo and forgiveness of london
i have a bad experience and then i had a good one to make up for it.
water rats was great. kris played really well. nicole, you would have liked it here. lots of skinny british blokes who played musical instruments.
swapped poo stories with el, kris, and toby. great fun. it reminded me of the poo stories jeremy would tell me at work. which is also funny because jeremy 's identical twin brother was at water rats tonight. except when this dude grows a beard, it doesn't turn red.
very much enjoyed this evening. by the way, the band kris is in is called the people's revolutionary choir. a bit odd, i know, but pretty good. kris plays keyboard and there is drum, bass, guitar and front man, of course. can't wait til they open at brixton. love seeing music. specially when it is free.
don't worry, didn't dance around all night. know i have to keep the foot on the DL. comfy couches there.
g'night. tony the tech tomorrow. 9am sharp.

let's see if we can push her...
england will find my breaking point. i know it will. i thought crying in front of swans that are about to attack me was a low point.
nope. just want to keep pushing her a little bit more each day.
have i talked about veejay yet? this 'help-me-help-you' twat of a tutor i have for production studies? his answer for everything is 'just throw it into google, you'll be amazed what you find'. sorry, i forgot that i decided to go even further into debt so you could tell me stare at the internet for knowledge. seriously, 'google it'???? do you want to watch me explode? 'cause i will if you say it one more time.
oh and the doctors here. they're super helpful too! now i know why appointments are free. i've been having massive problems with my foot, limping around and looking stupid since thursday. thought i'd go into the doctor for some proper medical attention. i sat around in the waiting room forever and then had a minute and a half appointment where she suggested that it was probably a bone spur and i should buy myself a nice pair of nikes and some ibruprofen. great. just frickin' great. buy some nikes, painkillers and stare at google 24hrs a day. couldn't i just do that in janesville, wi for WAY less money?
AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

movie adverts rock
so this actually happened on saturday, but seeing as today wasn't all that interesting (with the exception of walking around harrod's and bustin' out to: bell biv devoe's poison; madonna's la isla bonita; mariah carey's heaven) i thought i'd write about it.
my editorial class could not help that sentence.
so, saturday was a way lazy day, but saturday night megan and carissa and i went to see bridget jones' diary which made me all happy. the movie was good, yes, but the fun bit were the commercials before the movie. see, we've been watching a lot of movies and i've been getting bored with the adverts; same everytime. THIS time we got a few new ones. the highlight was the new one for orange. orange is a mobile phone service in the uk, maybe europe too, i don't know, anyway. they do this thing where someone (it was vern troyer) does a movie pitch to orange to try and get them to give money. vern gives the pitch and the orange execs say things like 'oooh, we could have him tell the story in voice messaging' and nonsense relating to their phones. at the very end they they throw in some line relating to austin powers which piss troyer off and he shows them the naughty finger. this time they did one with patrick swayze. and they yelled out "no one puts swayze in the corner" and "i've had the time of my life patrick" hmmm, i didn't make this sound very funny. but believe me it was. we were laughing out loud so hard and oddly enough, were basically the only ones in the theatre that seemed to enjoy it. must have been the only americans.
anyway, see if you can check it out on the internet.
oh yeah AND they showed the new star war's trailer........oh so lovely.

is that supposed to mean something?
good evening--
went to the student union bar at the london college of fashion tonight to watch the lighting of oxford st. for christmas. ate minced pies and drank a little mulled wine. all sounds lovely, yes? i bet you're imagining pretty tickle lights and christmas trees all up and down the street, arent' you? holiday music in the background and all that?
um no.
apparently this year london was going for something a little more modern on oxford. there are sets of spotlights set up on the street. plain ol' spotlights.not sure if i'm supposed to see something in it. like, maybe the beams of light are a bunch of snowflakes in the sky....what it reminds me of is the lights i would see in the downtown sky of minneapolis and those were coming from deja vu. humphh. that's not really christmasy is it now?
guess what? i returned a book to the library the other day. i no longer needed it. yeah for me.
oh and i saw the packers beat the vikings!!! yea!

WTF!!
just wrote a post and went to spellcheck it, then i pressed back when i probably shouldn't have and now have lost the post. could we piss abby off any more, please????
not going to bother now. story short: i don't hate my sister, just feel extremely sorry for her. wish she could realize that she deserves better than what she is giving herself and i feel really hopeless that i can't do anything for her.
drama. ick.

cereal might do
You know how you sort of forget how much you like something until you have it again? This just happened with me and honey nut cheerios. I dig that stuff again, but from what i recall....it isn't made by nestle in the states. Can someone check this out for me?
Also, HOB, what do YOU think this stands for? Yeah, cause i don't know and that's what my stovetop is called.
I am going to attempt to bake banana bread tonight. Wish me luck.
Bought tickets for vienna for christmas. just a short trip 22 dec to 26th. chillin' with the dbc eurostyle family.
i tried really hard to keep that capital thing going....i don't dig capitals.

fireworks!!!!
FIREWORKS!! woohoo! guy fawkes day (nov 5) is pretty groovy. they refer to it as 'bonfire night' but i have yet to see a bonfire. friday night, kari (miss balck ((dbc friend!!)) stayed here thursday and friday night, layover before she headed back to the states, it was really nice to have her here!!) and some friends from class met at the student union and had a pint before heading down to clapham common. we watched the fireworks and played with sparklers, then headed to another pub. yeah for pints! the kids from class are really great. i've noticed though that they are the types of people that are super more than happy to have you come along, but you have to invite yourself. bit weird and hard for me to do, but i think once i do that a few times things will be groovy. toby even said i could drive his car, yeah! only in the carpark of course, but that'll still be cool.
saturday night my friend carissa and i went to another fireworks show in greenwich. this one kicked even more arse. it was on the blackheath which is just a huge area of grass, so no matter where you stood the site was going to be amazing. there was this really pretty church that framed the fireworks so well. sorry i didn't bring my camera, i'm afraid i'm going to lose it or have it nicked (do they put a 'k' in front of things like that??) so they i lose out on great shots. i've decide that every guy fawkes day, i'll have to head to london for the fireworks, they are that great!
i've found a favorite soap. a few of you have probably heard of eastenders (which i kind of am one...a south eastender anyway), but i prefer the soap "holly oaks".
http://www.hollyoaks.uklinux.net/index.htm
after you look at this site, you'll probably laugh your head off that i'm getting into this crap, but it's really entertaining.
peace

grrrrrr.....
i have just arrived home. it is early in the morning and i am sad and tired.
sad news-election
happy news-there are basically no people on oxford st at 5 to 6am.
sad news again-i just found a letter under my door that tells me that my residence hall is going to offer free internet. they just decided this. i have to pay because i was not informed and now have a 12month contract. this is more angry news.
now i must go to sleep.
screw it, i'm skipping class tomorrow. i am not in a good mood

pumpkin candles and renewed books
dear people--it is now november and my spiced pumpkin candle is almost burned out. this makes me sad.
up-note. i bought some yarn and some needles today and am going to make another scarf. the yarn is super cool because it has three strings (orange, red, and grey) going to be a nice scarf , if i say so myself.
i just renewed two of the books i borrowed from the library. printing materials by bob thompson and intro to publishing studies by shigeo minowa. this isn't really exciting. but i felt that it is important to remember that i did this. it is the second time i have had to renew them because for some reason i just haven't looked at them too much. my goal is not to renew them again.
election day is almost here. i think i might go to the planet hollywood here to watch it. seriously. they are staying open until 5am to show it and there is no cover charge (unlike some of the other places) i might get me a mudslide and a big american burger to celebrate when kerry wins.
my mom is going to have surgery on the 3rd. nothing too serious, but yea! for her, she will be off of work for two months. i must remember to call her at some point tomorrow.
to the couple of people that may have read this---HELLO!!! abby is well and misses you!
