Good News!

Don't worry folks, the problem's been solved. Well, more patched up with a bit of tape. Our rent is still going to increase, but such a small amount that it just isn't worth the hassle to move right now. We've got a new contract until August and that means we can plan a bit more for a move and NOT stress and worry about what and how we're going to move. I think we better appreciate the area to its fullest right now.

Every weekend we better be out at that park, feeding those ducks, and gawking at the extremely over-priced houses!!

Woohoo! Saturday Night! Party Time!

It's 6.08 pm on a Saturday night and Toby's laid out on the couch watching football and drinking an earl grey to sooth my headache. I think it's been a long day...have no energy to do anything else.

Our rent will definately be going up soon, so we're on a quest to find a one bedroom flat in London for less than £200 a week. Let me tell you, this is an impossible mission. We either need to leave London or suck it up and leave in a studio. Or let our landlord push us around and pay the extra rent. I don't want to do that. So, if everyone can send positive flat-renting vibes our way, that'd be much much appreciated.

We did it again!

We went in search of buffalo the other weekend, but didn't find any. We DID find some "wild beef" and thought that would be pretty darn close. It tasted different, but was still one tasty, meaty burger!

Speaking of food....it makes me think of teeth. And the pain in my tooth. It is finally time for me to go to a dentist in England. What finally made me so desparate that I was willing to go to the dentist? I drank some lukewarm milky tea and I felt a LOT of pain in my tooth. That's just not right, so, I sucked it up and called around to find a dentist today and I now have an appointment on Feb 6th at 9.30 in the morning. I'm very, very worried about this because I KNOW there is something wrong and it's not going to be a comforting setting and it's going to hurt. I'm a grown up and I should be good about the whole thing, but all I want to do is whinnnneee.

another new year, 2007 this time...

aHA! a moment of internet clarity. everything seems to be working fine and there isn't any slowness. there isn't anything worse than slow internet. i'd rather have nothing at all, then waiting for what seem like hours, for one single page to load. one single page that you didn't really want to look at anyway, it was just that you were bored.

i have a photo from the current new year's eve that i'd like to put up. it's one of the better pictures of toby and i! you'll notice i'm wearing an orange number. said number is a dress i purchased in a complete "i don't care, i want it, so i'm going to buy it" second. i rarely do this and felt immediately guilty after i left the shop, but i couldn't do anything about it because they had a no cash return policy; i'd have to get a credit in the store and get something else. sure, i could buy a lot of something elses in that shop, but why bother when i wanted the one thing?

another year...

last year toby and i found ourselves in minneapolis. we enjoyed the company of friends and toby learned how american's drink beer. a great evening.

this year we booked a nice meal out at the restaurant, Terra. the london dining website said it was a mediterran restaurant with a romantic feel. maybe so, but for new year's it was all decked out with christmas decorations, a disco light, and some thumping tunes. our perfectly fabulous spanish waiter had a diamante belt buckle. we had a very good time! afterwards we went to parsons green in west london for a party in a pub. toby's friend and all his kiwi relatives were there. everyone was friendly and a good time, but i'm definately getting old. it is so hard to talk with new people when it's loud and you just don't know what to say.

lots to come this year and i think we made a fine start today. we woke up late, flew a kite, had a mcdonald's, and spent the evening alphabetizing our cd collection. a step in the right direction i think. one more day until all is back to normal and we've got to go to work. january is such a long month for work, but i'm going to try to enjoy it a bit more and not stress about it as much.
