a quick seasonal change

last night we carved pumpkins and today, there was snow on the ground!

i made my way to marylebone station very early this morning to go to a class about color. i was greeted with freezing cold temps. as i wandered out of the station in search of a starbucks (there wasn't one in the station (!)-or outside for that matter) i saw some white stuff on top of a black cab. i couldn't believe my eyes--but then, as i kept wandering i saw it on the ground too!

it had snowed!!

this proves that i was up early and was NOT paying attention as i quickly made my way from train station to train station. i've seen snow on halloween in the states, but i didn't think it was possible here. apparently, it hasn't snowed in october since 1934.

luckily, i was able to enjoy the white earth while i took my hour-long train journey to haddenham & thame parkway (near oxford). white snow covered everything and i couldn't stop smiling.

of course, by the time the class was over and i finally made my way back home by 7o'clock, my smile wasn't so big. i was (am) tired. i still have a half smile going on though as there are still bits of snow on the ground and i'm sitting next to a couple of jack-o-laterns.

i love halloween.

do we frighten you?

fall updates

this picture isn't mine, obviously as we don't have a puppy dog or any type of pet. though i have been pestering toby lately about the idea of a kitten. long-term we want a dog, but it isn't too practical right now. anyway. my mom's friend pixie sent over some pictures of sophie the dog. dressed as a pumpkin. my mom does it every year. as she's living in michigan, dinah the cat got a break and didn't have to dress up as a witch. dinah resents the fact that just because she's a black cat, she has to be dressed up as a witch. just one year dinah would like to be the pumpkin.

this isn't mine either. it's from the bbc, but i like it. and it's informative too. don't forget about those clocks.

jack-o-laterns to follow once the tobster and i carve 'em.

happy fall peoples!

zoo day

turns out we have lots of holiday to use before the end of the year. just didn't have the time (or more likely money) to tick any places off of our "must travel to" list.

instead we went to the zoo and had a really beautiful fall day out in london.

i had really wanted to go to the zoo (which is in regents park) when we lived in st. johns wood, but it's just one of those things...when you live so close to somewhere you figure you'll get to it. you never do.

fruits of our summer

home grown food

i grew these and then i ate them.

they took spring, summer, and fall to grow, but they were well worth the wait.

we are still without battery charger, so all of the picture taking has been with toby's phone. pretty good even if it is a phone.

i've got a digital slr on my christmas list. the thought of pictures with that camera sends me over the moon.

i don't do this often, so bear with me. ages and ages ago i helped out carisa's friend anwen with a photography assignment. i was wandering about myspace and saw that she had these two up. she passed on a couple of photos to me, but i don't remember these two. how cool do i look? anwen takes some nice photos.
