the imperial war museum

a couple of weekends back (or maybe it was even last weekend, i can't remember), we cycled down to the imperial war museum around the e&c. we've been meaning to for ages, but somehow, never managed to get around to it. a case of, it's close and always there, so we can go another time.

must get out of that cycle!!

anyway, it is a pretty cool place. much larger than i thought. probably even needs a couple more visits to really see it all.

we wandered about and toby put his hand in a tank. as you do.

we lost steam after the war and children exhibit. it was a major downer.

to sum up the museum, war is a downer and people are brave.

a lot to learn in that place. a lot to learn.

summer storms

we've been getting some brilliant storms lately. real, proper thunderstorms.

normally, we get this wimpy sort-of drizzle rain. you know, miserable, it's cold, you don't need an umbrella unless you wear glasses...boo to that kind of rain.

last week there was a lovely storm that decided to erupt right as we were due to cycle home. once you're cycling in the rain, you're wet, so you might as well keep going. it can be quite fun!

though, the hail probably won't be very much fun. it's a good thing we missed it.

just a word of advice. when finding a puddle... no, i don't mean puddle. i'm talking a flash flood sort of lake that has appeared out of nowhere... don't go through it slowly. the cold water that comes up to your knee will feel just icky. you've got to blaze through it as fast as you can.
