have you seen a map?

football season is back. toby found a new place for us to watch the matches. an old cinema converted into a weatherspoon's pub. not bad really. still really looks like an old cinema! i have a feeling we'll be back there again, so i'll get a quick picture sometime. though i know i'll get a few stares.

i got a few today.

as traditional on our football outings, i'll bring my knitting. toby watches the football and i knit a few lines or read a book. of course, this gets a few funny looks from people at first. eventually they ignore me, so it isn't a big deal. this time about, a woman asked a few questions. so, i was polite and smiled and said thanks and yes, knitting is fun, etc. she asked me where i was from and, as normal, i said near chicago. most people know whereabouts that is. she said where in chicago, as she is quite good with geography. oh! i say, well, then, i'm from a place called janesville, right on the border of wisconsin and illinois. oh! she says, is that near texas?

i'm not kidding! good with geography, ha! then she went on to say something about israel and all you have to do is type it into google to find out where it is. then she asked if i went to church.

i think this pub is gonna be awesome.

we heart ice cream

a few weekends back -- let's be honest it was july, august kind of just happened and it is so nearly over! -- at the end of july, tobes and i went to ben and jerry's sundae on the common in clapham common.

as the saying goes, typical british weather. mega chilly, wind and a bit of rain. we're there for ice cream though, so we had to forget about all of that. the ice cream! it was all you could eat! granted, it turns out you can only eat so many ice cream cones. caramel chew chew, cookie dough, chunky monkey, etc, etc.

we also saw a few good bands like camera obscura and the futureheads. human league (!) was headlining, but we just couldn't be bothered to stick around. it was really starting to rain by then. i heard they were pretty funny. a bunch of old '80s synth pop ladies dressed in tube tops.

anyhoo, i think we need to make this a regular thing. anyone want to come with us next year?
guess what
i heart ice cream.

lots and lots and lots of ice cream
a little chunky monkey

my first baby sweater

i'm back on the knitting. end of august now, so it just feels appropriate, you know?

this little sweater didn't take a long to knit, but i started getting lazy and it took ages to finish. i'm not so good with the finishing and i don't enjoy it.

michelle and craig are my first baby knit recipients. hope it isn't too small for their new little one. i'm so, so happy for them and i hope i get to meet him before he's wandering around and talking.

i picked up some yarn on the most brilliantly warm day wednesday. i'm all ready for my next project. wahoo!

1st baby sweater!
